Upgrading of the railway line on the section Zidani Most-Celje
The upgrade took place on three sections of the railway line, namely from Zidani Most to Rimske Toplice, from Rimske Toplice to Laško and from Laško to Celje. As part of the upgrade, the railway stations of Celje, Laško and Rimske Toplice were also renovated, where new platforms were built, which now have easier and safer access adapted for people with reduced mobility. Level crossings at Rimske Toplice and Laško stations and three level crossings on the Rimske Toplice–Laško section were also discontinued. Also, new underpasses were built in Marija Gradac and Rimske Toplice, including road and other related infrastructure. As part of the upgrade, a new 123-meter-long road bridge was built over the Savinja in Marija Gradac, which now connects the main road Laško-Šmarjeta on the right bank of the Savinja with the road Laško-Breze-Šentjur on the left bank. Protection against noise has also been taken care of, as approximately 3.5 kilometres of new anti-noise fences have been installed.
